Anika just waved at the car, managing to keep up with, and then overtaking her friend's shorter stride. Her sudden waterworks were nearly as shocking to her as they were to Neph, and she kept wiping her eyes, sniffling as she fought to regain some self-control.
Electronic keys were a godsend, all she had to do was to click the button from a distance and the car doors unlocked. And Anika is about under control once she slips inside the driver's seat, turning once more to look at the younger woman who was getting into the passenger side.
"So yea, Hi. Welcome home." Damn it, here come the tears again.
