Does anyone else find it creepy that, in the first scene of Pirates of the Caribbean, Norrington is a grownass man and Captain of a ship already and Elizabeth is, like, twelve years old?
Whyyyy do they do this? Maybe it's because they think their little girl audience can't identify with anybody out of their teens? Belle! Belle I can believe is twentyish! And yeah, Beast doesn't count because he became boring and weird looking the second he was cleared for marriage. Everybody likes Beast better, Disney, get the memo.
Point! Marriages between rich folks: We don't need no stinkin' affection!
Because parents don't think about it because it's otherwise sanitized? I always read Aurora as older than Belle, but it's difficult to tell with their habit of putting young faces on older bodies. But she could be at least the age of consent. He does look rather unfortunate as a human doesn't he?
I can hardly blame a parent or a man looking for power and security within a marriage. What with it being one of the traits of royalty.
